What are common signs of illness?

If any of the following symptoms appear, you should call the office:

  • Fever above 100.4
  • Vomiting repeatedly (not just spitting up) or refusal of feeding several times in a row
  • Excessive crying
  • Excessive sleepiness or listlessness
  • Frequent, loose bowel movements (especially with mucos, blood or foul odor)
  • An unusual rash or a severe diaper rash that doesn't respond to zinc oxide or A&D ointment

And for older infants and children:

  • Severe cough
  • Earache
  • Persistent sore throat
